State's Largest Trees
The Men's Garden Club of Wethersfield will meet Monday, Jan. 25, 7 p.m., in the Pitkin Community Center, 30 Greenfield St., Wethersfield. Master wildlife conservationist Paul Colburn will present a free, illustrated talk on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 6:30 p.m., at the Essex Library, 33 West Ave., focusing on the natural history of black bears in the state, an overview of black bear habitat, diet and behavior, and current research efforts. Colburn also will offer recommendations for optimum co-existence with our black bear population especially as the recent warm weather has delayed hibernation.
