Obituary: Hall of Fame High School Athlete Passes At 84 - Danbury, CT Patch

Friday the 13th of December, 2019. He was 84 years old. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Hedin Morlock of Ridgefield, CT, his brother Frederick A. Morlock and his wife Linda of Brookfield, CT, his daughter, Nanci Morlock Santiago and her husband Harbey of Woodbine, MD, his sons John William Morlock of Newtown, CT, and Matthew James Morlock and his wife Lynne of Medway, MA. He is also survived by his ten beloved grandchildren: Lucas, Marcus, Hana and Sarah Santiago, Mac, Wesley and Christian Morlock of Newtown, CT, and Jessica, Emily and Alec Morlock of Medway MA. He was predeceased by his brothers Robert and Edward Morlock. William was born on September 15, 1935 in Danbury, CT, graduating from Danbury High School in 1953 and graduating from the University of Connecticut in 1957 with degree in Accounting. He began his career at Perkin-Elmer Corporation in Norwalk, CT, in 1958 as an accountant, but seeing the future of technology quickly transferred into their data processing department. He spent his entire career at Perkin Elmer, retiring in 1990 as Director - Corporate Computing and Telecommunications. In addition to his career, William was always an athlete. He was very proud of his grandchildren, Jason, Hope, Kristen, Hartley, Severn, Chance, and Hannah, and his great-grandchildren, Camden, Lucas, and Tatem. Frederick James "Pop" Costello, 82, of Bonita Springs, FL died on July 31, 2019 after a long illness. While Fred enjoyed a successful career, his most treasured work was building a family with Nancy Peters, his high school sweetheart and wife of 60 years, whom he frequently called "the center of my universe." Fred was born on June 11, 1937 in Pittsfield MA, to James V Costello, an immigrant from Spain and Elsie Broga whose American roots trace to 1630 settlers of Connecticut. The couple raised Fred and his two siblings on the family farm on Greenwater Pond in nearby Becket-- a modest homestead on land granted to Andrew Broga, Elsie's great grandfather, for his service in the Revolutionary War. Fred and his brother John lovingly maintained the property over the years and because of their generosity, ensuing generations have enjoyed fishing, late-night bonfires and flashlight tag on its grounds. Carl was born on February 22, 1946 in Darby, PA to Carl and Elizabeth Corson. He moved to Maryland that same year. He lived in Frederick and Braddock Heights and attended Middletown schools. He graduated from Middletown High School in 1964 and the University of Maryland in 1968, where he played saxophone in the Marching Band. Carl served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1968-1974. He was formerly a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown, MD. On Maui, he was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where he served as a Trustee and a member of the Board of Education. Carl was the owner of a group of auto parts stores, operating as Frederick Automotive and Antietam Automotive. He served on the Board of Directors of the Chesapeake Automotive Wholesalers Association. He also served on the Frederick County 4-H Camp Center Board. Carl moved to Maui in 1994. He started making stained glass windows and doors as a hobby. He became an accomplished craftsman known for his meticulous work. He also enjoyed golf in his retirement. Most of all, Carl was known for his kindness to all. A private Memorial service will be held at a later date.
