Jul 6, 2021Five Questions: Beth Parker has flower power - Loveland Reporter-Herald
How did you get started in the floral business, and why did you stick with it?
Steve Hadden, who previously owned Hadden’s Flower Gallery in Old Town Fort Collins, and my mother encouraged me to start designing and felt like I had a great talent for it. I enjoy what I do and have a passion for it.
3. What kind of training, skill and knowledge is needed to create floral arrangements?
Knowledge of plants and flowers and when they are in season, artistic talent with colors, lines and capturing the eye. I also have taken a lot of master design classes from designers all over the world.
4. What’s the busiest day and the busiest season for flower delivery?
Valentine’s Day is the busiest day because it is one day to get hundreds of arrangements out. Mother’s Day is the busiest week because people will send flowers, plants and gifts all week.
5. What tips can you give for keeping cut flowers fresher longer?
Don’t believe the fads! Just be sure to keep the water full. We send packets with flower food. Mix a pitcher of that up and keep adding to the water with that pitcher.

Sep 7, 2020The Power of Flowers - North Forty News
I was impressed with the thought, care, and scientific know-how that have gone into The Annual Flower Trial Garden at CSU. It’s a no-brainer stop in Fort Collins if you love flowers — located at 1401 Remington Street.
This local garden is not so much about making the landscaping like a special environment. I saw that at the famous Butchart Gardens in British Columbia, where reality becomes a fairyland.

Fort Collins ColoradoanPublished 11:35 PM EDT Mar 13, 2020Debra Brockel knows her days are numbered. But her mind is at ease because she’s the one doing the counting. Brockel, 60, has suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, since 2006. She has endured severe exacerbations of the disease, which irreversibly damages the lungs, and all manner of medical treatment and hospitalizations. She has received hospice care from Pathways at her home in southwest Fort Collins since December after a year of palliative care, which is geared toward making gravely ill patients comfortable rather than curing them. Her condition has deteriorated to the point she is prepared to take aid-in-dying medication. She wants to end her suffering, but she also wants to spare her family the anguish of watching her waste away.“It’s been a long haul,” she said. “It’s time to say goodbye.”The decision to end her life as allowed under Colorado law did not come quickly or easily. She consulted with do...
