Francis Pauline Jacobson

CSU. She began her teaching career in Tulsa. During World War II, she taught math and science, ran the swimming pool, and drove the school bus in Canon City, Colorado. After coaching jobs in Waurika, Chandler, and Hobart, the Jacobsons landed in Ardmore in 1950, where Fran began a long career with the Ardmore Public Schools. Many women, now in their 60s and 70s, will remember Mrs. Jacobson as their P.E. teacher. When the Junior High moved to the old High School building, she taught math until she retired in 1980. Fran took much joy as a gardener. For years she provided the Presbyterian Church with flowers for the altar. She volunteered at Ardmore Memorial Hospital and tutored at Carter Seminary. An avid golfer, Fran served a term as president of the Dornick Hills Ladies Golf Association. She loved to play bridge and held office in the Ardmore Duplicate Bridge Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, C.E. “Tip” Jacobson; her brother, Ted Monhollon (Jean); and her sister, Tennis Wallace (Thomas). Fran is survived by four children, Jan Grantham of Redding, California, Jack Jacobson of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Frank Jacobson (Ann) of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Page Jacobson of Ardmore, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Condolences may be left at Griffin~HillcrestFH.com. (Daily Ardmoreite)
