Bridge of Flowers Classic race has classic day

Bridge of Classic race, with today's race being his best finish. Brooker is a software engineer who recently graduated from Cedarville College in Ohio. His wife is a member of the Willow Street Athletic Club and her team has been coming to Shelburne Falls for the last few years, so Brooker decided to come along for his first visit.His winning time was well off the course record time of 30:10. Jon Korhonen of Somerville, a University of Massachusetts at Amherst graduate, placed third with a time of 34:50. David Burnham, of West Hartford, Connecticut, and Alex Kramer, of Somerville, placed 4th and 5th with times of 35:12 and 35:25 respectively. Karen Bertasso of Albany, New York won her second title Saturday. Her training partner, Hannah Brooker, who is married to winner Matthew Brooker, stayed with the lead through the first mile, but Bertasso was never challenged. Bertasso, who also came in first in the race last year, won with a time of 37:46, 36 seconds ahead of her teammate. Her time was also well off the course record time of 35:21. Second place finisher, Brooker praised the organization of the race after her second place finish. Bertasso, 31, was a soccer player at Union College in New York, and turned to running after graduating. The physician's assistant is also a member of the Willow Street Athletic Club and came to the race through the organization. Last year's second place finisher, Apryl Sabadosa of Westfield, finished third with a time of 39:00. Erin Lopez, of Saratoga Springs, New York, came in fourth and Tammy Richards, of Williamsville, Vermont, finished fifth with times of 40:14 and 40:59.
