Dec 15, 2016Painter's daylily blooms at exhibit
My work is very accurately visual,” LeGeyt said.
“That is the difference between what I do and (High River floral artist) Annie (Froese). A floral painter can do any size, colour relationship. I love her work because there is a great energy to it. You can tell she is passionate about flowers, but it is a totally different art form than mine.”
LeGeyt has been asked to speak on the topic of art and science.
She presented her lecture Where Art Meets Science: Traditions In Canadian Botanical Art at the Canadian Botanical Association Conference last spring in Toronto.
She will give the same lecture at the Nickle Galleries at the University in Calgary. She will also present Where Art Meets Science at the prestigious the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library at the University of Toronto in February.
As for seeing the LeGeyt’s award-winning painting of the daylily, it will be on display at Home Ground Coffee on McRae Street from Dec. 12 to 30.
Okotoks residents will have to wait to see the real McCoy, but they don’t have to go to LeGeyt’s backyard. The daylily blooms in June or July and there are some planted on the median on the hill on Northridge Drive.
