Creative collaboration creates gift - The Daily Courier
We know a very talented glass artist - maybe a frame created just for the photo?
We talked with Barbara Sussman of Prescott Valley, and her answer was, "Sure, I can do something."
So, off to Barbara's glass studio we went with our photo in hand. Barbara found the perfect color to complement those in the picture, bringing in the blue hues of the ocean, sky, and the granddaughter's dress.
Okay, that was step one, but we were still not part of the event. The Frame and I and Ida Kendall was our next stop - of course, she could put the grandparents into the photo!
After a few visits to both Barbara and Ida, and their visits with each other, the photo was perfect and the glass frame had some more colors added to the corners - beautiful!
Now, how to put it all together with a mat and backing - oh, no, you can't put hangers on the glass frame! Well, The Frame and I, experts that they are, figured it out, came up with the most beautiful final product including a mat that had an inner blue edge and a narrow wooden frame that brought together the flower colors.
A few weeks later, we presented the gift, and as they opened it, we can still hear the screaming and see their delighted smiles!
We are so fortunate to have access to such talent right here in Prescott and Prescott Valley.
Thank you, Barbara Sussman, Ida Kendall and The Frame and I.

The Prescott Valley Daytripper 1.1
The Constellation Loop Trail, located in the Granite Dells of Prescott, AZ. is only 8.5 miles (12 min drive) from the Entertainment District of Prescott Valley, and is definitely one of the more picturesque hikes the Prescott Valley Daytripper has experienced.
The trail is a 2.4 mile loop featuring wild flowers, trees and amazing granite formations. Rated as moderate on AllTrails.com, it is accessible all year long. Dogs are permitted but must be on leash.
Although rated as “Moderate”, we think this trail is pretty much for everyone and a must on the bucket list for all who have not experienced it. A great day trip. As always, bring water and a friend!
If you’re feeling adventurous, there’s some rock climbing too 🙂

15 Flowers that Rebuff Hummingbirds
Plant trees for hummingbirds that are attractive for nesting. I regularly find hummingbird nests in my Bradford Pear and Prescott Blaze Maple.
Flowers that are unsuitable for hummingbirds, may be enjoyable to other birds, attracting them to make use of your less hummingbird-friendly flowers. The yards most attractive to hummers include a range of flowers to meet all birds' needs, as well as other trees, shrubs, and vines that can provide food, shelter, and nesting sites for all types of birds.
OK, enough of the bad plants for hummingbirds here's a link to plants hummingbirds find irresistible:

Sun Valley tulips star at American Tulip Day event
San Francisco,” said Sun Valley marketing specialist Bill Prescott. “There were 10 of us and we drove all night and met 15 Dutch folks and then spent the morning setting up a design on Union Plaza.”The tulip garden was then opened to the public who were provided with bags and encouraged to take flowers home with them.“We went through 100,000 flowers in about three hours,” Prescott said. “The idea was for people to take as many tulips to fill up their bags. People took selfies while they gathered tulips and when the bags were full they went on their way.”Prescott said the goal of the event was to raise the profile of tulips here in the United States. Sun Valley collaborated with Dutch tulip exporters Anthos and iBulb to create the display and the American event was patterned on Dutch Tulip Day, an annual event held in Amsterdam since 2012.“There was a spectacle to this,” Prescott said. “For this being the event’s first year ever this was a huge success and we found the right city and the right location to hold it.”Prescott said it will be interesting to see if Sun Valley and other flower retailers see a bump in sales.“This was part of our goal to get people excited about flowers and we are curious to see if the flower shops in the Bay Area will see a bump in sales of tulips after this event.”Dan Squier can be reached at 707-441-0528.
