Local professional photographers who have submitted their #wildaboutwildflowers photos to us will have one photo featured in a special section in our newspaper to highlight local talent. The Texas Wildflower Reports said that Atascosa County is one of the best sites for wildflowers with special shout outs to areas around Poteet, FM 476 and 2504 where large fields of Bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrush, Groundsel or Engelman Daisies and other flowers are in abundance. We have had more than 300 entries from professional to amateur. The contest will end March 31 on our Facebook page, which has 14K followers. There will be three winners in three categories: flowers with people, flowers with animals and flowers (Scenery). Funeral arrangements set for Grupo Mazz frontman Jimmy Gonzalez

Facebook/The Real Jimmy G Y Grupo Mazz)Funeral arrangements have been announced for Grupo Mazz frontman Jimmy Gonzalez.Gonzalez died at a San Antonio hospital on Wednesday. A Corpus Christi media outlet reported that Gonzalez had been taken to a hospital after his blood sugar dropped. KIII-TV reports he died about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.According to the Darling-Mouser Funeral Home, visitation will be at the Brownsville Event Center, located at 1 Event Circle, on Monday, June 11, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.The funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, located at 1914 Barnard Road in Brownsville. Lucille Plotz; burial Friday

Dr. Charles Plotz. They had been married for 71 years when he died in November 2016. He was the love of her life and she was his.After two years in San Antonio where Charles had been assigned by the Army, they returned to Brooklyn where they brought up their three sons. Lucille later returned to Barnard and received a degree in botany in 1964. Lucille used her natural instincts, intelligence and education as a scientist to achieve excellence in all she did. She was an avid gardener at her home in Menemsha, growing prizewinning tomatoes, zucchini, string beans and flowers that won hundreds of ribbons at the Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Fair. She actively volunteered at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden for most of her adult life and served as President of the Garden’s Auxiliary and for many years on the Board of Trustees. She built the annual spring plant sale at the Garden into a major fundraising event and was its chair or co-chair for about 60 years. In 1977, Lucille was awarded the Garden’s Distinguished Service Medal.Lucille was also an enthusiastic tennis player, sailor in the races on Menemsha Pond, and fisherman who landed a world record 177-pound tarpon in the Florida Keys, following which she was invited to participate in the World Series of Fishing in Havana and met Fidel Castro.Lucille was a gracious hostess and a world traveler, briefly living in far-flung places like Indonesia, Afghanistan and France. She had many and varied talents.  A top-notch chef and an excellent seamstress, she also could re-wire lamps, fix the plumbing, do carpentry and accomplish pretty much any household chore formerl... Funeral for Lockhart couple killed in Biloxi crash is Tuesday

Kelly Molitor, said in a statement to KXAN.A funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church, located at 313 W. San Antonio Street in Lockhart, starting at 10 a.m.In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests donations be sent to The Education Foundation for Lockhart ISD at 105 S. Colorado, Lockhart, TX 78644.Four people in total were killed and more than 30 more were injured in the crash.
